The January 2015 edition of Professional Paraplanner is now out!
THE JOURNEY INTO PARAPLANNING can often be a convoluted one and this issue we publish articles from two paraplanners who arrived by very different routes and who both point out that while paraplanning is their ideal career, it took a combination of luck and tenacity to get into the profession.
This insight serves to highlight a major issue at present, namely the lack of paraplanners in the job market. Professional adviser businesses are crying out for qualified and experienced paraplanners, as are outsourced paraplanning firms. But paraplanners are not made overnight.
So how can that recruitment void be filled and how can the profession attract new blood when it seems like paraplanning is the industry’s best kept secret? Read our extended feature on pages 15-19.
OUR PROFILE this issue is with Richard Etheridge, 26 years a paraplanner, who has developed a set of processes and procedures that he has finely tuned and retuned over the years, so that he is always in control of his workflow. Read about how he does it on pages 8-10.
PLUS our PARAPLANNER POINTERS page in association with M&G Investments – where Nathan Fryer flags a simple but effective aid to report writing – and PARA-METERS in association with iShares, where you tell us what’s top of your wish list to help you do your job better in 2015.
FINALLY, from everyone at Professional Paraplanner, a big thank you to all our contributors in 2014 and warmest wishes to our readers for a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a SUPERB NEW YEAR.
